There’s something sacred about eating with friends – the unspoken rhythm of passing plates, swapping bites, and knowing without asking that you are going to eat that pickle, you just like to save it for the last bite. This weekend’s pop-ups are built for that kind of bond: a Taiwanese birthday party that tastes even better with friends, soft shell crab sandwiches and ice cream sandwiches so huge they practically demand backup, and a clam pie so good you’ll suddenly remember you “don’t do sharing.” Round up your ride-or-dies… these 5 must-eats hit harder when you’ve got someone to laugh, bite, and maybe fight over that pickle with.
Double Wen
Doublé // 1332 Halsey St, BK // Fri 10.10

Today is Taiwan’s birthday and Wen Wen is celebrating with Doublé and friends! They’re cooking up a stacked menu: Beef Noodle Soup Burger, Sacha Honey Glazed Popcorn chicken, Mapo Tofu Chili Cheese Fries, Homemade Sourdough Scallion Pancakes with Big Mac Sauce & Prosciutto, BDSM Chicken Wings, Taiwanese Sausage Dog with Cilantro Mayo and Taiwan Pesto Noodles. Come for the food, stay for the vibes – Mando tunes will be on deck by DJ Haroran Chen – the night starts at 6 and goes till who knows Wen.
Clam Pie
Decades Pizza // 6-90 Woodward Ave, Queens // Fri 10.10

Decades pizza serves up a ton of dishes that make you want to share with your friends: small-ish plates, all kinds of pies, and don’t forget dessert. BUT this pie, you’ll want to keep all for yourself. Decades’ Clam Pie is covered in clams and garlic, sprinkled with mozzarella and Calabrian chili, then topped with golden breadcrumbs, lemon and parsley. This baby only drops a couple times a week – so go get yours (and tell your friends to get their own) tomorrow and Sunday.
Soft Shell Crab Sando
The Sandwich Board // 115 Eldridge St, NYC // Thru Sun 10.12

The Sandwich Board’s menu never fails to satisfy any flavor you happen to wake up craving, and their rotating drops are the cherry on top. Through this weekend only, get their Soft Shell Crab Sando with crispy panko drenched soft shell crab, avocado, shredded cabbage, pickled ginger, nori and unagi sauce. But save room for dessert – they just launched their monster ice cream sandwiches that guarantee you’ll need backup to fit it all in.
Caroline Schiff x Strange Delight
Strange Delight // 63 Lafayette Ave, BK // Fri 10.10

We all know Fridays are for long lunches with friends, and today, your lunch plans are taken care of. On the menu are seed crackers, crudités, jammy eggs and green goddess dip; butternut squash piccata loaf with lemon aioli, pickled shallots and radicchio; and caramelized apple fritters with maple-cider reduction and sea salt. Oh, and on top of lunch with friends, the proceeds are going to Southern Smoke Foundation, who support our friends that work in the F&B industry with emergency relief and mental health services. A win, win, win if you ask me.
Mama’s TOO! x Smacking Burger
Smacking Burger // 51-63 8th Ave, NYC // Sat 10.11

Mama’s TOO! always does it right, but usually that ‘it’ is pizza. Tomorrow, that ‘it’ will be a couple of somethin’ specials – and they’re making it happen with Smacking Burger. Stop by the gas station and fuel up with an exclusive menu of dry aged prime double burgers, cheesy frites with rosemary oil, gruyere and fontina fondue, and bourbon vanilla shakes with a cognac caramel shell. Oof.
