This weekend is Labor Day Weekend, notorious for NYC clearing out. Which means, if you’re here, congratulations: the city’s best food is yours with way less competition (and I guess… labor). While everyone else is sitting in beach traffic, you can be snagging seats at Lana Lagomarsini’s tasting menu at Fulgurances, biting into a focaccia pork sandwich that could ruin you for all others, or hitting the last block party of summer. This week’s Must-Eats is proof that staying put pays off.
Lana Lagomarsini’s Tasting Menu
Fulgurances Laundromat // 132 Franklin St, BK // Thru Thurs 9.4

Chef Lana Lagomarsini never fails to blow my mind, but my brain is officially shrapnel after dinner earlier this week, where she brought together French technique with flavors from the her Alabama lineage and NYC living. This is the most creative menu we’ve had in a long time – but not for the sake of being creative, it is truly something special. Lana’s residency at Fulgurances Laundromat is only going through Thursday, so get your res for a 6-course… or, if you’re smart, 8-course tasting menu… we obviously did the 8 – and glad we did cause couldn’t imagine our life without that tamarind barbecued lamb belly.
Focaccia Pork Sandwich
Kings Co Imperial // 20 Skillman Ave, BK // Thru Tues Sept. 2

Kings Co Imperial Chinese restaurant and Mo’s General pizzeria are coming together for a serious sando collab. Sesame focaccia is hugging hanging BBQ pork, then stacked with scallion, cucumber, cilantro, and pickled cabbage. A perfectly balanced bite – sweet, smokey, crunchy, and fresh. It’s stretching longer than the weekend, available through Tuesday.
Dotties
5 Acres Restaurant // Rockefeller Plaza, NYC // Thru Fri 8.29

Supper club and caterer, Dotties, took over 5 Acres restaurant at the bottom of the rock this week – and today’s your last day to get your hands on this limited time menu. Chargrilled oysters, lamb belly ribs, jerk corn salad, crab and corn beignets, a smoked pork sandwich, and more. The menu is stacked… now get to work!
Hera x Roberta’s Summer ‘25 Block Party
Roberta’s // 261 Moore St, BK // Sun 8.31

Two of our faves, Chef Jay Rodriguez and Roberta’s, are throwing a Labor Day BBQ. Live fire cooking, serving up Jay’s signature heirloom tomato BLTs, grilled potatoes, charred cabbage wedge salads with homemade ranch, and glizzies. All to the vibes of vinyl sets, ice cold beers and tiki drinks.
Coconut Sorbet Affogato
Dinner Party // 274 Hall St, BK // Thru Sun 8.31

Dinner Party, best known for a rotating prix fixe menu and communal dining, knows how to do dessert drops. And lucky for you, they leave some bar and window counter seats for walk ins, whether you’re walkin’ in for a true a la carte experience or just a bite of something sweet. And double lucky for you, they’re celebrating Labor Day weekend with a summery version of a classic: Coconut Sorbet Affogato.
